Nothing but DRAMA!

You don’t know DRAMA until you have played womens over 30 soccer! I absolutely adore my womens soccer team and I wouldn’t play for any other team. We have been playing together for a long time and have a really great style of play. It works for us and we are fierce on the field. Unfortunately, it is still womens OVER 30 soccer.

When I play womens open, and I do quite often, we are playing soccer. Less bitchin about calls and contact and more about skill and goals. Right now, it is in our frostbite session and…Lani don’t play that! I’m half Hawaiian and I hate to be cold. My team doesn’t play frostbite (I love this team) so we go indoor to keep in shape and to prepare for Spring session. Spring session is the one that counts. How well we do or don’t do during Spring determines what division we are in. Whether we move up a division, down or stay where we are.

Last night was not a fun soccer night. Coming off the long holiday break, transitioning from outdoor to indoor and working off the holiday turkey, cookies and candy was taking a toll on my team. Touch was off, winded and adjusting to indoor brought my team behind 4-2 at the half.

Usually, being down by 2 at the half aint no big thing. Last night, it made all the difference in the world. Our opposing team definitely stepped it up and my girls were not up to the task. I scored 2 in the first 2 minutes of the second half and that was all she wrote. We couldn’t buy a goal after that! The other team came at us hard. Running in to us from behind when we didn’t have the ball, slamming us into the boards to get the ball, it was INSANE!

And the whining….Lord have mercy! Soccer is a contact sport Ladies! I would rather play against guys. At least you can check them or they can check you and you know where you stand. Not with women! Women will hold onto that shit for decades….

“I remember you! You’re that girl that tripped me that one time in that one game on that one field. I don’t like you.”

Answer…

“Yeah, I remember you too! You’re that girl that has no skill and laid on the ground crying for a call after I came up with the ball on a perfect slide tackle.”

To be honest, I don’t remember anybody or any game. I will remember a player if they are skilled and a good sport more than if they suck and fouled me.

My team ended up getting our asses handed to us 9-4. Collectively, we decided that this week is just conditioning and we will win next week! I love this team.

Ciao for now!

Honey, I’d love to see you guys play one day!

Funny thing is that if I were to play soccer I probably wouldn’t remember any of the players either — I’d either have been knocked unconscious or blocked being slammed into completely out of my mind!

I give you credit. I don’t think I’ve done anything really active past the age of 30 except chase my kids around the house. Even that will wind me! LOL!
